The "Run For John"
Big Walnut Friends Who Share would like to extend a huge "Thank You" to the Run For John Race Committee, especially the friends and family of John Scanlan and the sponsors, volunteers, and race participants. All of the proceeds from the 5K run/walk were donated to BWFWS. These funds assure the Board of Directors that assistance to the needy in the Big Walnut School District will continue in 2011. The Big Walnut Friends Who Share would like to say thanks to the orginizations, schools, churches and individuals who have provided support through out the year but espically during the holiday season.

  • Thanks to the students at the BW Middle School for a large collection of food.
  • Thanks to the members of the BWHS German Club for collecting and donating food.
  • Thanks to the Girl Scout Troop 266 for donating bags of sundry items.
  • Thanks to the members of the BWHS Basketball program for packing and moving the Family Christmas Boxes.
  • Thanks to Dennis Bell owner of Sunbury Cleaners and his staff for collecting, repairing, cleaning winter coats and donating to the Big Walnut Friends Who Share.
  • Thanks to the Big Walnut High School Student Council and Leo Club members for purchasing and donating $777.77 worth of non-perishable food and paper products plus over $300 in cash. Staff and Students collected over $1000 for the purchase of food.
  • Thanks to National Wild Turkey Federation, Heart of Ohio Chapter for donating 50 turkeys for distribution to clients at Thanksgiving.
  • Thanks to the students at the Rosecrans Elementary School for the large collection of non-perishable food items during their Second Annual Battle Food Hunger Drive. The students collected over 1700 items.
  • Thanks to Cub Scout Pack 247 for food donation.
  • Thanks to the Sunbury Goodwill Store for donating 140 $10 gift cards for the Christmas Family Boxes.
  • Thanks to the Chamber of Commerce for donating $2,617.50 from the silent auction.
